About GPTVideoEdit, the AI Video Editing Assistant

GPTVideoEdit puts an AI editing assistant next to a browser timeline. The goal is simple: type the edit you want, get a change you can see and adjust, and export it, with the video work done on your own device.

It edits footage you already have

Supported edits include cuts, clip order, timed titles, volume and mutes, speed, framing, zooms and punch-ins, and fades. The assistant issues these as editing commands that stay visible on the timeline. It does not generate replacement video.

OpenAI and Anthropic models

Quick and Standard use OpenAI language models and Advanced uses an Anthropic model. All three use the same set of editing commands. Pause requests can use silence ranges found on your device; the assistant works from the project and your words, not by watching the video.

Independent, part of the GPTVideoEditor family

GPTVideoEdit is not an official ChatGPT, OpenAI, Anthropic or CapCut product. It runs on the same video service as GPTVideoEditor, with the same plans and credits. Accounts are shared with the photo apps, but photo and video balances stay separate.

What the beta does not do yet

Projects are limited to 15 minutes and files to 1 GB, and your browser’s codecs, memory and file APIs affect what it can process. Speed changes affect voice pitch. Automatic transcription, generative effects, object removal and cloud rendering are not available. Keep your source files and check each export.

Frequently asked questions

No. It is an independent service that uses AI models to control a browser video editor.

Is it the same as GPTVideoEditor?

It is a sister site on the same video service, so accounts, plans and credits are shared.
